flavor inspiration ~ Piel del Sapo

 

Coming up with new cupcake flavors is a constant "quest".  I went on a run this morning and happened upon the Finley Farms produce stand.  I love the honor system they have in place.  Total your price and put your $ in a wine barrel (totally makes me love & appreciate the little community we live in).

I couldn't stop thinking about the piel del sapo during the rest of my run so when I got home, I grabbed some cash and went back to get some.

After tasting the amazing fruit, I decided it had to go in the cupcakes this week.  It is beyond delicious!  So come on in and taste the Piel del Sapo Lime Chardonnay cupcakes this week and let me know what you think!

Wedding at Sogno del Fiore, Santa Ynez

 

Amanda & Roy were married this July at Sogno del Fiore in Santa Ynez.  We were so thrilled to be a part of the magical day.  There are certain locations that have a special place in my heart and this is one of them (I'm not just saying that because it's only a mile from our house).  I think places feel so special primarily because of the wonderful people that own and manage them and all the care and pride they put into them.  The whole wedding was incredibly beautiful.  It was coordinated by Cynthia Beard and the amazing florals were done by Kelly Oshiro.  The wedding was featured here

I loved Amanda & Roy's asked me to set up the goodies on an array of vintage colored glass, mixed in with milk glass stands & platters - one of my favorite combos.  Everytime I pack up and put out all the different stands, it feels like Christmas!

peanut butter, cheesecake & chocolate + orange

 

i haven't counted, but we probably have over a dozen varieties of chocolate + peanut butter cupcake flavors, simply because it's my all time favorite combo.  if i had to pick the most popular version, it would be the one we fondly named "ridiculous", but this week's concotion may be a close tie. 

Chocolate Peanut Butter ~ chocolate cake, filled with dark chocolate mousse, topped with whipped peanut butter frosting, a mini peanut butter cup, chopped peanuts & chocolate sauce.

we are also huge fans of whipped up cheesecake stuffed inside the cupcakes, so we probably have over a dozen cheesecake cupcake options also (banana cheesecake, coconut lime cheesecake, peanut butter cheesecake, etc.), but we've never done it like this before...

Chocolate Ganache Cheesecake ~ vanilla cake, stuffed with cheesecake, topped with chocolate ganache & a raspberry

but, totally & completely new to our offering is a chocolate & orange flavor

Chocolate Caramel Orange ~ chocolate cake, filled with orange curd, topped with chocolate frosting & drenched in caramel

I recently updated our press section.  We are so stoked to be noted in the Spring Issue of Santa Barbara Magazine and in the current issue of C Magazine.  And our cupcake trailer made a pretty big apperance in the second issue of Mollie Makes, which is a hip, fun new craft magazine that just launched in the UK this May, and is now available in the US too!  The magazine is packed full of inspiring handmade, lovely goodness.  Here's a peek:

Bacon Cupcakes

 

I suppose it's not very nice of me to blog about a flavor that was available last week and won't be again until an undetermined time, but they were just to yummy not to share!  Chocolate Creamy Peanut Butter Bacon...chocolate cake, filled with fluffy vanilla mascarpone mousse, topped with peanut butter frosting and crispy maple bacon.
