Earlier in the week I went to SLO for some much needed R&R. I focused on making it a foodie adventure, mixed in some shopping (where I quickly realized in the boutiques that if I had to ask if it was a dress or shirt, then I was too old for the garment!), running & attempts to sleep. I was turned on to some super fab spots and wanted to share the love..first stop Big Sky Cafe it's still as awesome as I remember it being 10 years ago. The food is so fresh and perfect. I had a blast there with Ms. Amy O from Amy Bakes Cupcakes in SLO. She's lovely and her cupcakes were super delish. My new cupcake friend spoiled me with mini Strawberries & Creme and Lavender delights! Amy steered me to The Secret Garden for amazing organic herbs & spices . I bought some hibiscus, in preparation for making a honey hibiscus cupcake, but my experimentation went way wrong - oh well, another time (maybe I should try actually following a recipe!). Then onto Paper Sky for some pure visual delight.
By far the most spectacular paper store I have ever been in. Next - dinner at Koberl @ Blue was one of the best meals I have ever had...wild mushroom truffle soup and buffalo empanadas.
Bed time & breakfast here @ The Sanitarium Spa B&B Suzie, the breakfast was heavenly!
By mistake I ended up at Avila Valley Barn on my way home & scored some lush berries and sweet pineapple for this week's cupcakes.
There's great produce, packaged product and home decor goodies
AND cute farm animals that the kiddies can feed.
Last stop, Adelina's Bistro in Nipomo (a facebook connection tempted me to go there with her mention of truffle fries...it's a good thing I ran in slo! The fries were YUMMY!)
